FaIRY Tails is on a mission

We are a Dog Rescue in San Francisco - a city struggling with dog homelessness. We provide foster homes for dogs in need. Our vision is simple; to bring an end to dog homelessness. In the spirit of Fairy Tails, everything is possible and we want to see a future where no dog has to be without a home. Together we can give homeless dogs the fairytale life they deserve.

Our efforts are focused on prevention through education. Knowledge is power and we are bringing down the number of dogs in shelters by spreading awareness on how to stop dog homelessness. We want everyone to know the results and benefits of spaying and neutering, how to avoid contributing to irresponsible dog breeding, and how to properly care for a pet. Through tireless efforts we share our vision for the dogs happily ever after.

One of the ways in which we educate and spread awareness, is through our podcast Fairy Tails Dog Rescue. Our podcast is your window into the rescue world. Tiffany Montesano and Louise Wernvik are sharing their everyday challenges and victories in running a nonprofit dog rescue. The podcast puts a face to rescue workers and a gives a voice for homeless dogs. We want to share what we do - but also how we do it. This way our cause can inspire dreamers, rescuers, volunteers and dog lovers in San Francisco and other kingdoms far far away.

We provide foster homes for dogs in need. Many rescue dogs leave the shelter with experiences that will haunt them forever. Some shelter dogs are left with behavioral problems that make it difficult to adjust to the pet life. And even the dogs that make it through just fine from the shelter, are still left with the memories. It’s not only dogs that don’t want to go to the shelter, many people who want to adopt a dog refrain from setting foot in there too. Fairy Tails aims to put a new standard to the type of environment that homeless dogs are housed in and we thus only offer foster homes and no shelter space for our rescue pups.

Meet the makers of Fairy Tails

Tiffany Montesano is cofounder of Fairy Tails and mother of her very own rescue mutt-pack. Her aching passion for animals has brought her many furry friends. In the picture she’s sitting with a homeless dog in Costa Rica. This dog is one of many pups cheering her on down the rescue road.

Tiffany started her canine career with dogwalking and later moved on to rescue. She has worked with local shelters and as Director of Adoptions, she saw a steady stream of homeless dogs and gained invaluable experience on how to run a rescue. Tiffany has guided many dogs to loving homes, and is only just getting started.

Louise Wernvik is cofounder of Fairy Tails and owner of the dogwalking company Fairy Dogmother SF. Louise has served the dogs in numerous ways; doggie daycare, boarding, journalism, retail and rescue. Amongst the many dogs she befriended, it was the rescue dogs that really made her walk the extra mile.

Louise is the proud dog parent of a rescue pitbull, who she trained from being completely unsocialized to being a member of her pack and an ambassador for rescue pups. Her pack from her dog walking business are happy teachers and helpers to the many rescue dogs that need a little help on the way to becoming a stable and confident pet.
